SA POBLA AUTUMN FAIR 2014

The fair itself takes place over the weekend of 29/30 November, but beforehand there is the weekend of giants, xeremiers (bagpipers) and of the "lutier" fair.

From Friday, 21 November to Sunday, 30 November:
"Menjar Bé" (eat well, gastronomy specials at various bars and restaurants).

Saturday, 22 November:
16.30: Giants meeting to celebrate 30 years of the Sa Pobla giants. Plaça d'es Metge Duet.
17.00: Procession from the Plaça d'es Metge Duet to the town hall, greeted by the town's pipers for a commemoration of the 30 years of the giants, followed by a dance by the giants and music from the town's music band.
21.00: Concert by the Xeremiers Orats from Pollensa (pipes, whistles, tambourines and percussion), L'home del sac from Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona, Cassandre Balbar from France, Mùsica populare siciliana from Sicily and Gaiteros del Centro Gallego. Parish church.

Sunday, 23 November:
Normal Sunday market plus
09.00: Meeting of pipers and the Fira de Lutiers (string instruments). Plaça Major.
12.00: Procession from the Graduate School to the Plaça Major, featuring the pipers and the big heads, grif, dragon and eel of Albopàs (the demons' gang).
18.00: Folk dance led by Marjal en Festa and with the group Cofre Antic from Inca. Plaça Major.

Friday, 28 November:
21.00: Wine-tasting 2014. Mustiguillo Viñedos & Bodega (Valencia). Can Quic. Price, 28 euros.

Saturday, 29 November:
17.00: Official opening of the fair. Town hall.
From 17.00 and also during Sunday -
Exhibitions by Sa Pobla associations. Placeta de l'Església.
Exhibition of embroideries. Casal Can Verdal.
Grand variety of attractions. Plaça del Mercat.
Agricultural vehicles and machinery. C. Mister Green.
Animals' show. Old railway station square.
Bonsai exhibition. Sa Nostra centre, C. Mercat.
Tombola on behalf of the Caritas charity. Plaça Major, number 16.
18.00: Exhibition of painted bottles. C. Plaça, 14.
18.15: Exhibition of other hand crafts. C. Crestatx, 9.
18.30: Taekwondo exhibition. Plaça Alexandre Ballester.
21.00: "Mamaaà!" Comedy show. Sa Congregació. Price, 5 euros.

Sunday, 30 November:
Regular Sunday market, C. Gran.
09.00: Exhibition of scooters and motorcycles. C. Plaça.
11.00: Trial bike exhibition. In front of Bar Sa Placeta. (Also at 12.30.)
