ALCUDIA - SANT JAUME FIESTAS 2015



Thursday, 16 July
8.30pm: Pregón opening address for the fiestas by the director of the Alcudia municipal band of music. At the Can Torró library, C. Serra.
10pm: "Clarinet Colorístic", concert as part of the third Alcudia Clarinet Festival. Jennifer Dunsmore and Pablo Piñeiro with works by, among others, Kovças, Poulenc and Crusell. Can Torró library patio.

Friday, 17 July
6pm: Special Roman summer workshop - hand crafts, games and Roman clothing workshop. For children three to thirteen. Registrations at Can Torró, tel: 971 547 311.
11pm: Roman Festival. DJs Miquel Rocamir and Joan Campos. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria (market place).

Saturday, 18 July

10pm: Summer concert by the Alcudia town choir. Pont de la Vila Roja.

Sunday, 19 July

8pm: Line dance and ballroom dance with teacher, Bel Payeras. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.
10pm: Night party with the groups Galatzó and Calypso. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.

Monday, 20 July
6pm: Children's aquatic party plus foam party. With the group Mallorca Festa. Plaça Carles V.
8pm: Evening of sung poetry with glossadors presented by the Obra Cultural Balear. Can Torró library.
10pm: Open-air cinema. "Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy El Cachondo". (Mortadelo y Filemón are Spanish animated detectives). Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.

Tuesday, 21 July
8pm: Opening of painting exhibition, "Calma inquieta" by the artist Quima. Can Torró library.
10.30pm: Open-air theatre. "3 Nits Sense Dormir" (Three nights without sleeping). Plaça de toros (bullring).

Wednesday, 22 July

7pm: Open doors at the Pollentia Roman town archaeological zone.
7.15pm: Sports gymnastics display. Passeig Pere Ventayol.
9pm: Open-air supper and bingo. Four euros per ticket. Sale of tickets from the auditorium from 17 to 21 July. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.

Thursday, 23 July
8pm: Presentation of the book "La Presència Anglesa a la Gran Albufera del Nord de Mallorca" (about the British engineers who drained and cultivated Albufera in the nineteenth century) by Pere Perelló Payeres. Can Torró library patio.
10.15pm: Folk dance - ball de bot with Sarau Alcudienc and from Zamora, Grup Don Sancho. Plaça Carles V.

Friday, 24 July
10am: Beach volleyball tournament. Registrations: 629 648 114. Ciudad Blanca sports beach.
10am: New acquisitions at the Can Torró library.
7pm: Presentation of the book of poetry, "Sola en otoño" (Alone in autumn) by Mercedes Toledo. Can Torró library patio.
10pm: Night party with performances by Lorena Ares, Torrofort, Val 9. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.

Saturday, 25 July (Sant Jaume)

9.15am: Swimming race (two kilometres). Entrance, ten euros. Registrations via elitechip.com. From in front of the lifeguards' hut on the main beach.
10am: Beach volleyball tournament. Registrations: 629 648 114. Ciudad Blanca sports beach.
11.30am: Procession by the Alcudia band of music. From the Porta de Mallorca gate.
12 midday: Festive celebration of Sant Jaume (Saint James). At the church.
1.15pm: Traditional refreshments at the town hall.
10.30pm: Philharmonic concert by the Alcudia band of music. Beach volleyball tournament. Registrations: 629 648 114. Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victoria.
12 midnight: Grand fireworks' display. Plaça Carles V.

Sunday, 26 July10am: Beach volleyball tournament. Registrations: 629 648 114. Ciudad Blanca sports beach.
12 midday-12 midnight: Hidrosun Festival Mallorca 2015. DJs Manu Sánchez and others. At Hidropark. Price, ten euros.
6.30pm: Bullfight.
8.30pm: Procession from the Plaça de Toros to the Plaça Constitució with the Xaranga els Bergants band.
