SA POBLA JAZZ FESTIVAL 2014

The concerts are free but a donation of four euros to help cover the costs of bringing major jazz artists to Sa Pobla is asked for. It really isn't very much to ask. During the festival, there is also "Menjazz", i.e. a gastronomy side festival in which several restaurants participate.

Tuesday, 5 August:
22.30: David Murray Quartet. David Murray, sax; Reiner Elizarde, double bass, Pepe Rivero, piano; John Betsch, drums. Plaça Major.

Wednesday, 6 August:

22.30: Marco Mezquida Trio. Marco Mezquida, piano; Marko Lohikari, double bass; Carlos Falanga, drums. Plaça Major.

Thursday, 7 August:
22.30: Freddy Cole Quartet. Freddy Cole, piano; Randy Napoleon, guitar; Elias Bailey, bass; Curtis Boyd, drums. Plaça Major.

Friday, 8 August:
22.30: Orange Juice Funk Collective. Llorenç Barceló, piano; Pep Garau, trumpet; Josep Munar, guitar; Quique Ramírez, drums; Miquel Gayà, trombone; Nil Mujal, tenor sax; Joan Mas, baritone sax; Pep Lluís García, percussion; Derrick Burrows, vocals. Plaça Major.

Saturday, 9 August:
22.00: Concert for the closing of the international jazz seminary held by the Jimmy Weinstein Travelling School. Plaça Major.

The seminary is from 5 August to 9 August. Teachers are Jimmy Weinstein (percussion), Carlo Cattano (sax and wind instruments), Lilli Santon and Pere Dávila (jazz vocals), Antoni Miranda (guitar), Marko Lohikari (double bass), Dan Fox (trombone), and piano masterclass from Marco Mezquida.
